Dear Baby, All about our night in Bethlehem

Dear Baby,

Tonight Your Daddy and I were in our Ward Christmas program. Your Daddy played Joseph and I played Mary. We held a little baby Jesus {who was really a darling six week old little girl} and thought about you and what it will be like to hold you in just 31 short days.

Before our program begun I got to waddle around the crowd with a big belly, pretending to be pregnant. Because your Mommy and Daddy were never able to have a baby grow in my tummy, this was my first time feeling what that was like. It was difficult to get around, uncomfortable, and a lot of people would stare and laugh at my obvious change in appearance. It was all in good fun, but I couldn’t help but think about Mary as I portrayed her. At that point in her life, it must have been difficult for her to have the strength to do such a thing, so young and barely married, with so many on lookers.

I thought about your Brittani too. She is carrying you right now, loving you, and keeping you safe until you come to us. I hope you grow to know what a strong and amazing woman brought you into this world and that you learn to love her as much as your Daddy and I do. Your Brittani is much like Mary, young, fair, and strong.

When we held that little baby in our arms tonight, we also thought about our Savior. You are coming into this world on the coattails of a wonderful time of year. People are so kind; there is so much hope and love. This is all because of a little baby that was once as you are right now. He was born to a young mother and the literal son of God. He was adopted as a son of a carpenter named Joseph who would raise him as his own but always remember from whence he came. This baby would later grow into a strong and righteous man who would save the world with his own life, that we might return to His Father and our Heavenly Father.

Oh our dear little baby, we are so looking forward to your arrival one month from today! We can’t wait to hold you and meet your precious little spirit! We love you and pray for you and will see you soon!

Love,

Mommy and Daddy
