So I am now officially a country music fan. As a born and raised city girl, I never thought that when I moved to Idaho 7 years ago that I would stay. Lack of buildings, shopping, Caribou (The cafe-- not the animals), and the abundance of wrangler jeans were a turn off. I definitely assumed that upon graduation I would follow spouse off to greener and better (urban) pastures. Life doesn't turn out as planned sometimes though and we are better off for it.
Those who remember my teenage years remember that my CD case was filled with punk rocker boys with loud guitars and questionable morals. When riding in the car with my mom I would cringe as she would turn the radio to the COUNTRY STATION-- "Save me!" I would think... I believe that my mom secretly enjoyed torturing me and watching me beg and plead for something different. Well now she might be shocked to know- I have crossed over.
I think it has something to do with Idaho. The open spaces, the pastures with the new calfs and lambs, the fresh air and the snow capped ruggedness of the mountains. Country music is the music of choice now during my daily morning commute to work. I find it matches the scenery and mirrors my life a little better than my former teenage self. There is something wholesome and good to it. Sure there are its chintzy parts. Just like Idaho, there is good and bad where ever you look for it.
So what's with Mr. Atkins you may ask? WELL, I am pleased to announce that I am looking forward to going to his concert @ the state fair on September 11th. I am casting a humongous invitation to everyone on the face of the earth to attend. I am OOBER excited!
I still find that I am eclectic as ever with my tunes. I just thought I would blurb about my new LFT (looking forward to:)
(Did I just create some new txt or did that one already exist?)
Tomorrow night we are hosting some people for our ward progressive dinner. I think we are cooking enchiladas but I haven't gotten that far yet. The theme is Nuevo de Mayo. Only in Idaho. I need to get my house cleaned and I am hoping to get some yard work done too. The weather should be nice and I am LFT a nice spring day.
OH! BTW, I have one more LFT: Daren and I have a new niece named Chloe! I am LFT going down to meet her sometime soon for her baby blessing. Chloe is Bryce and Kate's first little girl and she is being adored by her 3 big brothers. We can't wait to see that cutie!
